Anderson, SC

Elizabeth Weber Ehlers, 77, of Anderson, passed away at AnMed Health Medical Center on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, with her family by her side. 

Born January 14, 1940 in Buffalo, NY, she was the daughter of the late Neil and Florence Davison Weber. Liz was an elementary school teacher for twenty-nine years. She taught second grade at Townville Elementary for twenty-one years before retiring in 2000. Liz was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, where she was a founding member of the St. Joseph's Knitting Group. She was an active supporter of the Calvary Home for Children as well as several other charitable organizations.

Survivors include her husband of twenty-two years, Herb Ehlers of the home; a daughter, Carolyn MacCormack (Brian) of Pendleton, SC; a son, Steven Babcock (Naruemol) of Dayton, OH; a step-daughter, Lynn Ehlers Moore (Bryan) of Lancaster, SC; a step-son, John Ehlers of Travelers Rest, SC; a brother, Neil Weber (Louise) of Arden, NC; two sisters, Gretchen Kowalewski (Bill) of Hamburg, NY; Margaret McLaughlin of Naples, FL; four grandchildren, Kevin Babcock; and Hanna, Georgia, and Andrew Moore; also surviving are eleven nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Babcock.

The Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at 12 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anderson, with Father Philip S. Gillespie officiating. Cremation will follow the service with interment to be held later in Lockport, NY. The family will receive friends at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.
