GEORGE WHARTON OBITUARY

WHARTON - George William In celebration of George William Wharton, youngest child of George C. Wharton and Gerda E. Wharton; born on January 14, 1955, in Buffalo, affectionately nicknamed "Joey" by his Dad. He is survived by siblings Maureen Manfer of Newport Beach, CA, Monica Wharton of Madeira Beach, FL and Michael Wharton of Cottonwood, AZ, and by his nieces and nephews Samantha Manfer, Dr. Meredith Hansen, Alexis Manfer, Stephanie, Nicholas and Alex Moshenko, and David and Denice Wharton. He was a lifelong resident of Buffalo. George graduated from Amherst Central High School in 1973. He was a member of the UAW and worked for General Motors until his retirement in 2008. George was an unapologetic diehard Buffalo Bills fan all his life. He played softball on the "Dirty Dozen" team sponsored by an Amherst tavern. His knowledge of sports was stunning but even more amazing about George was his unstoppable loving and generous nature. No one could forget his charm, his humor or his beautiful blue eyes. Our family was blessed to have him as a son, a brother and a loyal friend. His family was present when he passed away in California on May 15, 2014. We await the joyful reunion with our "Joey" in due season, Christ willing. Amen.
