Amy Bartholomew - Class Of 1978

ISPHORDING, Amy Bartholomew, 57, of Chesterfield, died unexpectedly on December 16, 2017. Born Amy Marquis Bartholomew in Buffalo, N.Y., she was a 1978 graduate of Amherst High School in Buffalo, N.Y., and a 1982 graduate of James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va., where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in music. Upon graduation from college, she moved to Richmond in 1983 to work for Bank of America until retiring in 2014. She also began her 30-year music career starting as a part-time performer with the Richmond Symphony and following that, she joined an all-female Richmond classical music ensemble, the Lyric String Quartet until retiring in 2013. She met her husband, Bruce, on a blind date set up by a mutual friend. After years of dating and friendship, they married in 2002. Amy was a devoted wife, sister, aunt and loyal friend. She was an avid Buffalo Bills fan and loved all things "Buffalo." She will be remembered for her great sense of humor, kindness, love of music, courage and strength of character. In addition to her husband, survivors include brothers, Robert M. Bartholomew of Richmond and Brian Bartholomew of Baltimore, Md.; a nephew, Mark Bartholomew Jr. of Richmond; and nieces, Erin Bartholomew of Richmond and Audrey Bartholomew of Baltimore. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at Bliley's-Chippenham, 6900 Hull Street Road.
