Bruce A Bird (1967)

I was driving in NYC when I heard that Rick had left us.  I was shocked by the news. 

Rick went to the University of Alaska (Fairbanks).  While back home in Amherst he encouraged me to go up to Alaska, in the summer of 1972, where I spent 6 months, mostly in Anchorage and the Aleutian islands. 

Later on he and his young family went to live in The Gambia for a few years.

Although he, later on, lived and worked in Michigan, he left his work and returned to Eggertsville to take care of his mom and dad in the very last years of their lives.  

I sorely miss such a wonderful guy from a wonderful family.
