Yusuf was with our class for only a year as an exchange student from Ethiopia.  He was a real gentleman, and someone who always had a positive attitude and a warm smile.

It was very apparent that Yusuf had potential to be a great leader.  I thought that he would someday be the leader of Ethiopia.  As the attached notes, he was a Regional Governor in the country.

Sadly, it appears from his brother's blog, that Yusuf lost his life too soon: http://goldengenerationofethiopia.blogspot.com/

Tom, thanks so much for posting the memory and the attached blog........... I remember Yusuf fondly and his gentle manner whenever you encountered him.  We were all devastated when we heard of his death at the hands of a vile ruling party.  I was able to post a note on his brother's blog which I hope he will see, read and know that his brother was loved by many!  May he continue to rest in peace.heart

LIke Sandy and Tom, I remember Yusuf as a gentle, soft-spoken person.  He lived with the Tschamler family and attended  my family's church, Central Park United Methodist. It made me happy to learn from one of his brother's posts that Yusuf had a happy experience during his year with us.  I wish I had taken the time to learn more about his life in Ethiopia.  May he Rest in Peace.
