Myrle M. Carter Pickup Aylsworth Braithwaite, 84, of Galeton, passed away on Monday, Oct. 25, 2021 at UPMC Cole, Coudersport. Born Aug. 1, 1937, in Buffalo, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Marguerite (Laughlin) Carter.

She was married to the former Richard Braithwaite, who preceded her in death on March 22, 2021.

 

Myrle graduated from the state teacher's college in Buffalo, received her Master's Degree from Mansfield University and went on to be a teacher in Buffalo and in Pennsylvania area schools. She later worked and retired from Tioga County Human Services.

 

She was a member of the Pine Creek Valley United Methodist Church in Gaines where she was in the choir, was a lay minister for the Methodist churches in the area,and was a member of the Galetones. Myrle greatly enjoyed singing and worshiping the Lord. Surviving are two sons, Keith (Pamela) Pickup, Little Marsh and Robert (Joanna) Pickup, Galeton; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and a brother, Lee (Marjorie) Carter, Rally, N.C..

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, Nov. 5, at 11 a.m. at the Pine Creek Valley United Methodist Church in Gaines. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pine Creek Valley United Methodist Church or to Skilled Nursing, UPMC Cole Place, 1001 E. 2nd Street, Coudersport, PA 16915.
