Judy Neureuter (Mrs. Roy R.), an active member of many Buffalo community organizations, passed away on January 10, 2023 surrounded by family.

Born in Buffalo, Judy was a lifelong suburban resident, with the exception of a two-year stint in Texas where her father was stationed during World War II.

Following graduation from Amherst Central High School and Stephens College in Missouri where she earned an Associates Degree, she attended the University of Buffalo, and left to marry her late, loving husband of 57 years, raised their children and continued volunteerism.

Mrs. Neureuter began her community endeavors by entertaining children in the out-patient reception area of Children's Hospital of Buffalo at the age of 15 and was a YMCA camp counselor. In addition, she served on the Wm. Hengerer Co. department store college board representing Stephens College.

In the early 1960's, Judy became a member of the Junior League of Buffalo and served on numerous committees as chairman. She served on the Executive Council as well as many community outreach positions for a period of 16 years. In 1974, Judy received the Outstanding Member Award. As a sustainer, she served as Sustainer Representative to the Board of Directors. In addition, she was involved as a member of the original renovation committee of the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural Site until it opened to the public in 1971.

In 1982, Judy was elected President of the Junior Board of the Buffalo General Hospital and served in many capacities over a 22-year period. During her Presidency the Junior Board saw many great changes including the make-over of the Sandwich Shop and the move of the original Gift Shop to a new and vastly larger location directly adjacent to the hospital lobby.

Mrs. Neureuter served as chairman for several of the fund-raising Balls for the Buffalo Philharmonic. Additional fund-raising pursuits included for the Cancer Crusade and the United Way. She was also involved in the PTA of Eggert Road Elementary School from which she, her husband and three children graduated. Memberships also included Westminster Presbyterian Church, Stephens College Alumni Association, and charter member of the American Chestnut Society.

As parents to three energetic children, Roy and Judy especially took great pleasure as spectators of their many youth activities. An avid reader, Judy also enjoyed traveling with her husband as well as taking family vacations. Judy regarded her greatest golf achievement as having won the Grandmother's Tournament in 1993, a two-day event which concluded on her birthday at her home course, the Country Club of Buffalo.

Precious survivors include two sons; John R. Neureuter (Tina) of Clarence Center, Jed J. Neureuter (Maureen) of Mansfield MA, a daughter Jeanne Neureuter Weppner of Williamsville, six grandchildren: Jamie Neureuter Mangouri (Bijan), Abbey Neureuter Ouimet (Ethan), Jack Neureuter(fiancé Jocelyn Reardon) , Cole Neureuter Weppner, Tucker Neureuter Weppner, J. Gunar Weppner and a great-grandchild, Elliott Ouimet.

A private family memorial service will held at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Serenity Mausoleum. In Lieu of flowers, memorials in Judith's name may be made to the Junior League of Buffalo, Inc., 45 Elmwood Ave., Buffalo, NY 14201.
