In Memory Alumni

Henry Emile Wilkinson - Class Of 1966

I am sad to report that our friend, Hank Emile Wilkinson, died 4-17-25 in Carmel, CA, from pancreatic cancer. In the last 30 years or so he had gone by his middle name, Emile. We spent a lot of time together, and talked frequently over the years, talking on the phone as recently as 2-11-25 when he said he might be coming to Buffalo this summer. He decided against coming but Anne and I were planning to see him in Carmel instead, and he gave no indication of an illness. In fact, he apparently wasn't aware how sick he was until a few days before he died. Susan Warfel Love lives in Carmel, had been in touch with him, was notified by the landlord where he lived of Emile's great pain, and helped facilitate an ambulance to the hospital a couple of days before he died. Susan notified me of his passing.

His brother, Rob, lives in Williamsville and called last week. Emile has been cremated, there are no planned services, and his ashes will be scattered in the ocean near where he lived. He was a dear friend and is missed greatly by those of us who knew him.

Take care all of you.

Steve

I remember Emile, (Hank), fondly.  I'm glad that he was only aware of his illness for a few days.  I'm also touched that Susan Warfel Love and Steve and Anne Hunt were in touch with him.

I'm so sad to hear of Emile's passing. I knew him as Hank and we were in a few classes together and good friends. He was a wonderful guy!   Even though so many of our Amherst friends have lost touch over the years it's difficult to hear this.
Rest in peace Hank.
