
Bloomfield – Catherine M. Charette, age 60, passed away peacefully, on Sunday, May 11, 2025, with her family by her side. She is survived by three siblings, Jeanne (Joseph) Guastaferro, Mark (Gloria) Charette and Daniel Charette (her twin); brother-in-law, J. Donald Sparks; many nieces and nephews; and her group home family. She was predeceased by two siblings, Anne Sparks and Gregory Charette.
Cathy was born in Portland, ME, and was the daughter of Armand J. and Claire (Croteau) Charette. She and her family later moved to Williamsville, NY, where she graduated from Amherst High School. Cathy and her mother later settled in Canandaigua, NY.
Her mother advocated and supported her daughter's independence and potential ensuring that she would experience life to the fullest. She was a member of her high school chorus, a lector with her mother at St. Mary's Church, and participated in numerous Arc Ontario programs including Creative Expressions, Meals on Wheels and a group which partnered with Canandaigua Primary School where she joined 2nd graders in craft, music, reading and play activities.
Cathy loved music, dancing, watching her Soap Operas, spending time with special friends and traveling. Highlights of her life included attending a Donnie and Marie concert, her favorite singers, and a trip to Hawaii to sip Piña Coladas.
Cathy touched everyone she met with her contagious smile and beautiful heart. Her hugs and loving words brought joy to everyone she encountered. Her pure, unconditional, selfless love will forever remain in our hearts. This is her legacy.
A heart-felt thank you to Cathy's Bloomfield home where staff and family exuded abundant love and tender care for the past 24 years.
Her memorial Mass will be celebrated, Tuesday, May 27, at 11am, at St. Bridget's Church, 15 Church St., Bloomfield. Interment will be in St. Bridget's Cemetery, Bloomfield. Memorial contributions may be made to The Arc Ontario, 3071 County Complex Dr., Canandaigua, NY 14424. Arrangements are by Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home, Inc., Canandaigua.
