Wayne Pengelly - Class Of 1963

ENGELLY - Wayne Lester Age 71, died Saturday, May 21, 2016, peacefully at home surrounded by family. He leaves his wife of 13 years, Mary (Carle) Pengelly; his daughter, Megan Drulard (Ned); his sons, Shane Pengelly (Suzanne) and Tyler Pengelly; his brother, Dennis Pengelly (Kathy); his niece Danielle and nephew Jeff; and six grandchildren; his dog Dakota and many close friends. Born and raised in Buffalo, NY, the son of Lester and Evelyn Pengelly, Wayne resided in the Raleigh area for the last 30 years. Wayne was an Eagle Scout who continued his passion for the outdoors by being an avid boater, fisherman and hunter. Wayne was also active in his community as a volunteer firefighter in Eggertsville, NY, serving as Army reservist and earning a President's Volunteer Service Award in 2012. Wayne achieved his Bachelor's degree in Architecture in 1975 from the University of Buffalo. He owned his own architecture and construction firm, Blayne Construction, in NY for six years before moving to Raleigh, NC to begin working as an architect for IBM. He retired following 25 years of service. Wayne's sense of humor, contagious laughter and smile will be greatly missed by all. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at 11:00 AM, Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh, NC. The family will receive guests immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers the family ask for donations to be made to either the Eggertsville Volunteer Fire Department (http://eggertsvillehose.com/donate.html) or hospice for the care and love they have shown our family.
