Dr. Wutz was born in Amherst and graduated from Amherst Central High School in 1984. While at Amherst, she participated in the school Drama Club and played basketball for the Lady Tigers.

Dr. Beth J. Wutz died Thursday in Mercy Hospital. She was 41.
She went on to attend the University at Buffalo, where she earned a bachelor's degree in biology in 1988 before completing medical school there in 1992.
Dr. Wutz was board-certified in both internal medicine and pediatrics. During her time at UB, she served as chief resident.
After graduation, Dr. Wutz practiced internal medicine and pediatrics at AuroraCare of WNY in Buffalo and East Aurora. She served those communities until the onset of her illness in May.
She is survived by her parents, Herbert and Joan; a sister, Laura Colca; a brother, John; and a loyal friend, Jill Jones.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 1 St. Mary's Hill, Lancaster.
