Barbara I. Smith, 78, of Pompton Plains, formerly of Ramsey, died Thursday, December 23, 2021.

Born in Buffalo, NY, Barbara was the daughter of Howard and Helen Keefe. Graduating from Syracuse University, she went on to earn her license as a CPA. Marrying Harry Smith, the couple settled in Ramsey, and Barbara spent her career as a CPA, employed by The Tax Shoppe in Ramsey. She was a Ramsey council woman and member of the planning board. She also spent many wonderful vacations in North Carolina.

Barbara and Harry lived in Ramsey for most of their lives before moving to Cedar Crest Village in Pompton Plains a few years ago. She is lovingly survived by her husband, Harry; her sons, Brad and Daniel; her sister Sharon and her husband Jeff Henry; her grandchildren Alexa, Brielle, Nicholas and Emilia.

A memorial service will be held 11 am Thursday, February 24, at Cedar Crest Interfaith Chapel, Pompton Plains.  Cremation was private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Cedar Resident Care Fund.
