Sheila A. Nadeau, 70, passed away in the arms of her three children on August 30, 2024, after living courageously with cancer for three years.
Sheila was born on June 16, 1954, in Buffalo, NY, the daughter of Kenneth and Vida (Wilson) Jones. She received a Bachelor’s and a Master’s Degree in Fine Arts from Buffalo State College. She then dedicated her career as an educator to nurturing the creative spirit of her students in the art room at Whitesboro High School until her retirement in 2021. Sheila’s classroom was a sanctuary for countless students, where her encouragement, mentorship, and talent would change and enrich lives.
Sheila’s favorite view of the world was on horseback. A lifelong horsewoman, she drew her greatest strength and vibrancy from her magnificent horses and her cherished equestrian community which never stopped energizing her. Her most authentic self was revealed in the show arenas and on the horse trails at Otter Creek, riding with her band of chosen sisters. Those who knew her best will remember her wild spirit, her unbridled laughter, and the countless championship ribbons that adorned her wall.
Sheila was a proud and loving mother, a gentle and honest friend, a compassionate animal lover, and a beautiful soul who blessed the Earth and is gone too soon.
She is survived by her loving children, Brooke (Michael, Jr.) Tamposi, Ross Nadeau, and Koty (Lucas) Mann; grandchildren, Marshall, Mason, Henry, and Hudson; beloved companion, Allan Green; brother, Brian (Ellen) Jones; and horses, Marcus and Cookie Sunshine. Sheila will be missed by many close friends and former students.
She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Scott Jones; and her horses, Master Jack and Hudson.
In keeping with Sheila’s wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held on November 2, 2024, in Boonville, NY with details to be announced in the near future.
Sheila’s family extends their sincere gratitude to the nursing staff at Roswell Park Cancer Center in Buffalo, NY; Cindi and Kerry Brennan for their dedication, care, guidance, and love; and Sheila’s extraordinary network of friends and loved ones who always supported, nurtured, and held space for her — never faltering in her time of need.
