Eileen Barron (Forgione) - Class Of 1980

Eileen Barron Forgione, a Buffalo native who taught fifth-graders in Amsterdam, died Tuesday (Dec. 28, 2004) in Ellis Hospital, Schenectady, after complications following a heart attack. She was 42.

A Buffalo native, Mrs. Forgione attended grammar school at St. Benedict's School and then graduated from Amherst High School. She graduated from Brockport State College with a bachelor's degree in sociology and also earned a master's degree in education from Empire State College.

After moving to Amsterdam, Mrs. Forgione worked as a teacher at St. Mary's Institute, the Marie Curie School and, most recently, R.J. McNulty School, where she taught fifth grade and was beloved by her current and former students.

She belonged to St. Mary's Church in Amsterdam.

She volunteered with the St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary and Boy Scout Troop 48 in Amsterdam, among other charitable endeavors.

Survivors include her husband of 20 years, Vincent; a son, Joey of Amsterdam; her mother, Joan McKenna Barron of Buffalo; three brothers, John L. Barron, James B. Barron and Kevin D. Barron, all of Buffalo; and two sisters, Mary Kay Walczak of Buffalo and Patricia M. Barron of Chapel Hill, N.C.

A Mass of Christian Burial was offered today in Christ the King Catholic Church, Snyder.
