Ruth Diane Mindell - Class Of 1969

Estes Park resident Ruth Mindell died Sunday July 30, 2006 at Prospect Park Living Center. Ruth Diane Mindell was born April 22, 1951 in Chicago, IL. Her parents were Eugene and June (Abrams) Mindell. She received a Bachelor's of Arts degree from Boston University in 1976 and a Master's Degree in Education from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque in 1980. She taught English as a second language in the Albuquerque public school system, the University of New Mexico Foreign Students College and the Albuquerque Technical Institute. Many of her students were Vietnamese and Spanish speaking children and adults. Ruth was confirmed at Temple Beth Am in Buffalo, NY in 1966. She was a volunteer at Kibbutz Merhavia in Israel in 1976. She was a long distance bicyclist and had cycled across Finland, Spain and Greece. She had also cycled solo from Canada to Mexico along the Pacific coast. In 1991 she moved to the clean air of Estes Park where she taught Suzuki violin.
