Dr. Alberto A Mooney, DC (ne Amaya-Dominguez)
January 22, 1976 – August 12, 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce that Alberto died on 8/12/21 leaving his wife, Angie, and children, Kyler, Gabriel, Nathaniel, Sophia and step daughter, Natalie. He is also survived by his adoptive mother, Rose, and adoptive brother, Daniel.
Alberto was born in the remote area of Morazán, El Salvador. He remembered a happy early childhood living with his parents and 4 siblings. But Morazan became a major stronghold of the guerilla movement during the El Salvadorian civil war and military patrols roamed the area. Families were separated, Alberto’s family being one of them. Alberto was taken to live in an orphanage and sadly he was never able to find out what happened to his parents or siblings. Solving this mystery would be a lifelong quest. At age 9 he was adopted and moved to Buffalo, NY. (hence his fondness for the Buffalo Bills).
Alberto graduated from Amherst High School where he was on the track and football teams (he once scored a touchdown for the team). He discovered his true vocational calling after hurting his back at work and seeking out the services of a chiropractor. He knew this is what he wanted to do; help people in pain. After several years of study he graduated from the WNY Chiropractic College. Alberto worked in chiropractic clinics in Palm Beach, Florida and Atlanta, Georgia before opening his own practice in Tampa.
Alberto always had charisma, an energetic presence and a contagious smile. He strongly believed in family and his family did most things together; playing video games, working in the yard, shopping, going on trips, taking Tae Kwon Do classes, rooting for the Bills or even painting his clinic. He liked taking the boys to the driving range or the basketball court, on fishing outings and the whole family camping. He and Angie had “dates” sometimes early on Saturday or Sunday mornings just to have some time together. He was also a bit of a clown breaking out into a dance just to amuse the kids or popping out from behind something to give us a scare. Angie would be close by with her faithful camera so happily much of this has been recorded.
Alberto wanted to provide the best care possible to his chiropractic patients. Any patient that Alberto treated knew that he had “healing hands”. He was generous with his time with his patients and many became like friends. He was also glad to help extended family who wanted information on what to do about their pain. Alberto was someone who would go the extra mile. This also extended to needs in the community where he would be happy to pitch in to help.
Alberto will be greatly missed. He will be remembered as a good family man, a good husband, a good father, a good brother, a good son and a good doctor.
