I started at Windermere in 1981. I was in Mr. Kaiser's 5th grade class. Due to my mild autism, I was transferred to Miss Johnson's special ed class. Johnson wanted to keep me in her class for a second year. In September of 1982, the 6th graders were moved to the middle school. Since it was politically impossible for me to be in 6th grade while still at Windermere, I was retained in 5th grade. A couple years later, Mr. Webster, the guidance counselor pulled some strings and I was able to skip 8th grade and be back in class of '89.

In 9th grade, I transferred to Orchard Park high school. I kept in touch with everyone and I would come visit Amherst every chance I got. Some didn't even realize I was gone! 😃
